Wayne started Shotokan Karate in middle school in 1981. He learned blocks and kicks which peaked his interest and love for the martial arts.
In 1991 he started training with Kyoshi Pat Haley. He has competed/attended in many tournaments, seminars and camps o;ver the years.
Wayne has also trained with Shugoro Nakazato in Okinawa.
He learned Tai Sabaki and weapons katas from TL Unisa.
Wayne holds a Nanadan in Empty Hand and a Nidan in Kabudo. He obtained his Sheehan teaching certificate when he tested for 5th degree.
